Dawn Bourque, B.A., M.A., LL.B.
Dawn is experienced and comfortable with all levels of court as well as private arbitration, although the majority of her clients are able to resolve matters without the need for adjudication.
After practicing family law for several years with a large Bay Street law firm, Dawn opened her own practice in the fall of 2011. As a sole practitioner, Dawn has the flexibility to tailor her services to her clients' particular needs and budgets.
Dawn received her LLB (Hons.) from the University of New Brunswick in 2001 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2002. Prior to her call, Dawn clerked for the Honourable Mr. Justice Bastarache of the Supreme Court of Canada.
Before embarking on her legal career, Dawn received her MA in Canadian Studies from Carleton University. Then, as a doctoral candidate in Women’s History and Canadian Legal History, she was awarded the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada fellowship. Dawn spent several years researching, teaching and presenting her work at scholarly conferences.
Dawn received her BA from the University of New Brunswick, where she received the Lieutenant Governor's Medal. While at the University of New Brunswick, she founded and ran the Women's Resource Centre, an advocacy group that provided information and counselling to students and women in the community.
